Hi, I’m Tiffany Machia. Let’s get to know each other.

Starting therapy takes courage. Getting to know me a little first can make it feel a log more manageable.

Hi there! My name is Tiffany and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I know that starting work with a therapist can be challenging for a number of reasons, so I hope that getting to know me a bit more can help make this process feel a little more comfortable.

I began working with clients in 2016 while attending graduate school at California State University, Fullerton. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals across a range of settings — from agency work with youth, to private practice with adults, to a mental health startup where I provided therapy and clinical assessment. That breadth of experience has shaped the therapist I am today and deepened my commitment to working with people through some of life’s most significant and tender transitions.

My clinical focus has grown around the experiences that so often go unseen or minimized — the emotional complexity of the perinatal period, grief that comes in many forms, and the quieter struggles that people carry, often without anyone asking how they’re really doing. This work matters deeply to me, and I bring that into every session.

Throughout my work with clients, I strive to provide non-judgmental care and consistent, neutral support. I take a holistic, client-centered approach — which means I hope to get to know you as your whole self, not just the concerns bringing you into care. I show up in sessions as my genuine self and hope to create an environment where you feel safe to do the same.

My Approach

Direct. Warm. Skills-based.

I believe that everyone has strengths, and my goal is to empower clients to recognize and build upon those strengths to work through whatever is keeping them stuck. I am a directive, action-oriented therapist and work best with clients who are ready to engage in skills-based work toward tangible change.

I believe that real change requires us to stop sugar-coating and start addressing the tough, uncomfortable stuff. I try to bled compassion, humor, honest feedback, and reflection in my work with each client.

Outside the therapy room

I’m originally from Vermont and have ventured from one mountain town to another ever since. I currently live in the Pacific Northwest and love it here. When I’m not in session, you’ll likely find me mountain biking, snowboarding, backcountry touring, paddleboarding, or backpacking — basically anything that gets me outside. When I’m not adventuring, I love spending time with family and friends, cooking, listening to podcasts, and reading.
